How ChatGPT 4o finally revolutionizes my AI workflow

As a seasoned product manager, I always seek ways to improve my workflows. Initially, I found earlier versions of ChatGPT cumbersome. Creating content myself seemed more efficient. However, ChatGPT 4.0, with its voice input capabilities, has completely changed my mind.

There are tons of articles and posts on how AI boosts efficiency in the PM sphere: analyzing user interviews, doing market research, crafting user stories, and writing UX copy. Honestly, so far, I did not perceive this efficiency boost. I don’t know many colleagues who use ChatGPT to the extent promoted in the many YouTube videos.

Writing is cumbersome 😩

For most cases, I stopped using ChatGPT as the results were not satisfying. Why? It was simply too cumbersome to have multiple feedback loops in the chat.

I can write an on-point user story faster than providing ChatGPT with all the detailed context to write it for me. A detailed and well-framed context is key for ChatGPT to not just output generic content.

In Product Management, being precise and crystal clear matters. Spamming your teammates with generic phrases does not help.

ChatGPT4o changed the game

When OpenAI announced the release of ChatGPT 4.0, I was excited to try it out. The results were stunning, especially as the conversation provides a much better user experience.

Real conversations, real productivity 🤩

A few days ago, it was my turn to look after our newborn son in the morning before I went to work. We went for a walk in the nearby park. As usual, my son fell asleep after just a few meters. Time for me to think and reflect.

As we had a strategy workshop that morning, I took the opportunity to prepare a little while walking through the park. With a coffee in hand and my son asleep, I engaged ChatGPT 4.0 in a dynamic dialogue on my phone, refining my thoughts on the go.

I asked “Chatty” to create a competitive analysis applying Porter’s Five Forces model and then craft a SWOT analysis based on it. Just talking to “Chatty”, I did not feel as constrained as before. It was like a normal conversation. I could just follow my flow of thoughts and express them in seconds without worrying about the right sequence of information, structure, or “uhms”.

Open AI’s desktop makes the set complete 🛠️

Having had such a great experience with the ChatGPT app on my phone, I wanted to bring more ChatGPT into my daily workflow. Back home at my desk, I fired up my laptop.

However, while I could have a fluent conversation on my phone, I wanted to use the generated content on my laptop. Often, I also wanted to provide researched files and images to the chat. Still a little tedious.

Thank God, OpenAI also released its desktop app. Now, I can freely interact with ChatGPT and generate great and refined content — finally the efficiency boost I was looking for.

The desktop app is only available for Premium users. You can download it via the menu in your ChatGPT account within the browser version. To be fair — the regularly failing connection bothers me quite a bit. But I still like where this is going.

Homeoffice as the perfect setting 🏡

Talking to the chat instead of writing, of course, requires you to be in a safe space. To be honest, it sometimes feels stupid to know that someone listens to you talking to a chatbot. Home office is definitely beneficial here. 😅

Let me know about your experiences using ChatGPT within your daily operations! I would love to learn from your perspective as well!
